Our Services

General Information

Shediac Psychological Services provides consultation to adults on an individual basis. This includes psychological assessments and interventions. The clinic is located in Shediac New-Brunswick.

Services are provided in person. However, telepsychology (through secure videoconference) may be available to clients who are unable to attend sessions in-office or who reside outside the South-East region.

The appropriateness of telepsychology is established on a case-by-case basis.

Services are offered in French or English.

Please refer to the ‘about’ tab for more information about the scope of the services provided.

Referral process

Individuals looking to obtain psychological services from our clinicians can self-refer by contacting us directly (Contact Us).  Upon the first contact, we will ask you a few brief questions in order to better understand your needs.

Your family physician or other health professional can also refer you to our clinic, although this is not a necessary step. However, please note that some insurance companies request an official doctor’s prescription or referral for psychological services, in order to obtain coverage.

We are also registered providers for WorkSafe NB and Veteran’s Affairs Canada. Depending on your individual situation, you can call us directly to self-refer, or you can be referred by your case manager.

Fees

Consultations with a psychologist in private practice are not covered by the provincial Medicare plan.

Our fees are based on the College of Psychologists of New - Brunswick’s recommended rate. You can obtain more information on their website: www.cpnb.ca

The sessions are typically 60 minutes long. The last 10 minutes are reserved for administrative purposes, such as billing and scheduling.

Most insurance companies provide coverage for psychologist in private practice. Please refer to your personal health plan for information regarding your yearly coverage.

We do offer direct billing for Medavie Blue Cross and insurance companies that fall under TELUS Health. You will be asked to pay the full amount at the end of the session if your insurance company is not included in those, or if there is a co-pay amount.

Our preferred method of payment is through e-transfer, but we do accept all major credit cards, debit card, cash, or cheque.
